Cali
Climate Characteristics - Cali
General Overview
Cali is located at an altitude of about 1,000 meters (3,280 feet) in the Cauca Valley, giving it a Tropical Savanna Climate. Unlike cool Bogotá or spring-like Medellín, Cali is consistently hot throughout the year. The city is famous for its refreshing breeze known as the "Brisa de la Tarde"—a Pacific sea breeze that crosses the Andes and reaches the city every day around 5:00 PM, providing much-needed relief from the afternoon heat.
Temperatures
Daytime temperatures regularly hover between 30°C and 32°C (86°F-90°F), while nighttime lows drop to a pleasant 18°C to 20°C (64°F-68°F). The evening weather is considered some of the most enjoyable in Colombia, perfectly suited for the city's vibrant salsa culture and nightlife.
Rainy and Dry Seasons
Similar to the Andean region, there are two rainy seasons (March–May and October–November). Rain usually appears as short, intense tropical downpours, typically in the late afternoon. The driest season (June–August) is a popular time to visit, though the midday heat can be quite intense.
