Climate Characteristics of Córdoba

General Overview

Córdoba features a humid subtropical climate. Due to its central location, far from the ocean's influence, temperatures are more extreme than in Buenos Aires. The city is characterized by hot, very humid summers and dry, cool winters.

Summer and Rainy Season (November to March)

Summer in Córdoba is very hot and often characterized by high humidity that intensifies the heat. Daytime temperatures range between 29°C and 31°C (84-88°F), but heatwaves can push them above 38°C (100°F). This is the wettest season, with most rainfall occurring as intense afternoon or evening thunderstorms.

Winter and Dry Season (June to August)

Winter is very dry, featuring clear skies and pleasant sunshine. Days are pleasant (around 18°C/64°F), but nights are very cool, with temperatures frequently dropping to 4°C (39°F) or near freezing. Snow is very rare in the city itself but common in the nearby mountains (Sierras).

Transition Seasons (April-May and September-October)

Autumn and spring are considered the best times to visit. The weather is stable and very comfortable for walking (around 22°C to 25°C / 72-77°F). In spring, winds may strengthen, and the air is very dry before the first rains arrive.

One of the best months. Clear days and a very comfortable temperature of 24°C (75°F) daytime.

Cool and dry autumn (21°C/70°F daytime). Nights become significantly cooler (8°C/46°F).

June

Start of winter. Very dry and clear (18°C/64°F daytime and 5°C/41°F at night). Almost no rain.

July

The coldest and driest month. 18°C (64°F) daytime and 4°C (39°F) at night. Sunny and pleasant days for touring.

August

Slight warming (21°C/70°F daytime). Very dry month with occasional brisk winds.

September

Start of spring. 23°C (73°F) daytime. Nature begins to bloom but the air is still very dry.

October

A wonderful month. 26°C (79°F) daytime. Temperatures rise and the first rains may appear.

November

Warm and wetter spring (28°C/82°F daytime). Humidity starts rising toward summer.

December

Start of summer. Very hot (30°C/86°F daytime). Long, sunny days with evening thunderstorms.
