Puebla
Climate Characteristics of Puebla
General Overview
Puebla enjoys a subtropical highland climate, very similar to Mexico City but slightly drier. Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,135 meters (7,000 feet), it experiences "spring-like" weather throughout most of the year. Temperatures are rarely extreme, but there is a significant difference between the dry and rainy seasons.
Summer and Rainy Season (June to September)
Summer coincides with the rainy season in Puebla. Daytime temperatures are very pleasant, ranging from 24°C to 26°C (75-79°F). Rain occurs almost daily in the late afternoon or evening as heavy showers, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, which clears the air and provides a unique freshness.
Winter and Dry Season (November to February)
Winter is the driest and clearest season. Days are sunny and very pleasant (around 22°C/72°F), but mornings and nights can be very cold due to the high altitude, with temperatures dropping to 5°C-7°C (41-45°F). This period offers the best visibility for viewing the surrounding volcanoes.
Spring Season (March to May)
Similar to other parts of the Mexican plateau, spring is the warmest season before the rains arrive. Daytime temperatures can climb to 28°C (82°F) or more, and the air is very dry. This is a time of intense blooming in and around the city.
