Climate Characteristics of Billund

General Overview

Billund features a temperate oceanic climate. Located in the center of the Jutland Peninsula, it is slightly more sheltered from direct North Sea winds compared to coastal cities, yet the weather remains typically Danish—unpredictable and rainy year-round. Temperatures are comfortable in summer and cold in winter.

Summer Season (June to August)

Summer is the peak season in Billund due to Legoland. Daytime temperatures are very pleasant, ranging between 20°C and 22°C (68-72°F). This is an excellent time for outdoor activities, but remember that rain can appear suddenly even on a clear day. Days are long, allowing for extended stays in the parks.

Winter Season (December to February)

Winter in Billund is cold and grey. Daytime temperatures range from 2°C to 4°C (36-39°F), while nighttime lows often drop below freezing. Legoland is usually closed during peak winter (except for special events), and the town is very quiet. Snow falls occasionally but rarely accumulates deeply for long periods.

Precipitation and Wind

Precipitation is relatively evenly distributed throughout the year, with August and October typically being the wettest months. Westerly winds blow consistently across the Jutland plains, which can make temperatures feel cooler than they actually are.
