Climate Characteristics of Givat Brenner

General Overview

Givat Brenner enjoys a Mediterranean climate typical of the Shephelah (lowlands) region. Its geographical location, on low hills about 10 kilometers from the shoreline, creates a blend of coastal humidity with slight continental influences, manifested in more noticeable temperature differences between day and night compared to coastal cities.

Summer Season and Warm Months

Summer in Givat Brenner is hot and humid. Daytime temperatures typically range between 31°C and 33°C (88-91°F). Heat stress is clearly felt during the afternoon, but thanks to the slightly elevated position of the hills, a westerly breeze is often felt in the late afternoon, providing relief. Nights are warm and humid, and the scent of the region's famous citrus orchards is distinct in the air.

Winter Season and Precipitation

The winter in the area is mild and rainy. Most precipitation falls between November and March, with an annual average of approximately 530 mm. Winter temperatures are pleasant during the day (about 18°C/64°F), but nights can be quite cool. Due to the local topography, cold air can accumulate in the low-lying agricultural fields surrounding the kibbutz on clear nights.

Transition Seasons and Special Phenomena

Transition seasons are characterized by sharp changes and spectacular blooms. In spring, "Sharav" (heatwave) events accompanied by dry and hot easterly winds and light haze are common. Autumn features a gradual decrease in humidity and changes in cloud formations heralding the arrival of the first rains.

January

The coldest and rainiest month. Daytime temperatures range around 17°C, and at night they drop to 9°C on average. This is the peak of the rainy season, featuring a lush, water-saturated landscape in the kibbutz fields.

February

Winter continues in full force with temperatures similar to January. February is a month of intense blooming in the open areas. Rainy days are still frequent, but pleasant, soft sunshine spells can be felt.

March

Transition to spring. Daytime temperatures rise to about 20°C. It is a volatile month where warm sunny days can quickly turn into rain showers. Citrus blooming begins, filling the air with a sweet scent.

April

Ideal spring weather. Temperatures climb to 24°C and humidity is still low and comfortable. Visibility is excellent, and it's a perfect time for local trips. Occasional short heatwaves may occur.

May

Significant warming toward 27°C. Days are clear and sunny, and rain almost completely disappears. The atmosphere becomes summer-like, but the relative dryness maintains a very comfortable feeling in the shade.

June

Official start of summer. Daytime temperatures range around 30°C and humidity begins to rise noticeably. Skies are completely clear with no chance of precipitation.

July

A very hot and humid month. The average daytime temperature is 31°C, and nights are warm (about 22°C) with very high humidity. Heat stress is felt throughout most of the day.

August

Peak of heat and humidity. Temperatures hover around 32°C during the day and remain high at night. This is the most challenging month of the year, with heavy and prolonged heat stress.
