General Overview

Liepāja is located on the western coast of Latvia, nestled between the Baltic Sea and Lake Liepāja. Due to its maritime position, its climate is the most moderate in Latvia; winters here are less freezing than in Riga or the eastern regions, and summers are very fresh.
