Climate Characteristics of Odense

General Overview

Odense features a temperate oceanic climate. Due to its central location on the island of Funen, it is slightly more sheltered from the strong open-sea winds compared to coastal cities in Jutland. This results in slightly more stable weather, though it remains typically Danish—unpredictable and rainy.

Summer Season (June to August)

Summer in Odense is pleasant and refreshing. Daytime temperatures range between 20°C and 22°C (68-72°F). This is the best time to stroll through the old town's alleys and the city's lush green parks. Days are very long, allowing visitors to enjoy cafes and summer events until late.

Winter Season (December to February)

Winter in Odense is cold, humid, and grey. Daytime temperatures range from 2°C to 4°C (36-39°F), while nighttime lows often drop below freezing. The city looks particularly magical under light snow, giving it a true fairytale appearance, but days are very short and skies are mostly overcast.
