General Overview
Puerto Iguazú features a humid subtropical/tropical climate. Unlike Buenos Aires, it is hot and humid year-round, and the region does not experience a true dry season—rain can fall at any time. Surrounded by dense rainforest, the area has very high humidity levels that intensify the sensation of heat.
Summer and Warm Months (December to March)
Summer here is scorching and stifling. Daytime temperatures regularly climb above 32°C (90°F), and the combination with humidity creates heavy heat stress. This is when the falls are at their peak water volume, but visiting can be tiring due to the heat. Intense and sudden tropical thunderstorms are very common in the afternoons.
Winter Season (June to August)
Winter in Puerto Iguazú is among the mildest and most pleasant in Argentina. Daytime temperatures are very comfortable (around 23°C to 25°C / 73-77°F) and nights are fresh but not freezing (about 14°C / 57°F). This is a very popular time to visit the falls for those wishing to avoid extreme heat, though rainy days are still possible.
