Climate Characteristics of Zapopan

General Overview

Zapopan enjoys a humid subtropical climate. Due to its elevation (around 1,570 meters), it is considered one of the regions with the most comfortable weather in Mexico, characterized by moderate temperatures year-round. The city experiences a long dry season (winter and spring) and a concentrated rainy season (summer).

Summer and Rainy Season (June to September)

Summer in Zapopan is warm and humid, but the altitude prevents the heat from becoming oppressive. Daytime temperatures range from 26°C to 28°C (79-82°F). Rain typically falls as intense thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening, refreshing the air for the night.

Winter and Dry Season (November to February)

Winter is a period of clear skies and pleasant sunshine. Days are warm (around 24°C/75°F), but nights are cool and fresh (around 10°C/50°F), requiring warmer clothing in the evenings. This is the most popular time to visit the city.

Spring Season (March to May)

Spring is the hottest and driest season. Before the rains arrive, midday temperatures can climb above 31°C (88°F), and humidity is very low. This is when the city is filled with the purple blooms of Jacaranda trees.

Dry and very pleasant during the day (24°C/75°F) but cool at night (10°C/50°F). Mostly clear skies.

February

Starting to warm up. Sunny days (26°C/79°F) and fresh nights. Almost no chance of rain.

March

Start of the hot season. Very dry weather with a daytime average of 29°C (84°F). Excellent visibility.

April

Hot and dry. Daytime temperatures reach 31°C (88°F). Jacaranda blooms are at their peak throughout the city.

May

The hottest month. Average of 32°C (90°F) daytime. First rain showers may appear toward the end of the month.

June

Start of the rainy season. Temperatures drop slightly to 30°C (86°F) due to increased cloud cover.

July

The wettest month. 27°C (81°F) daytime. Intense afternoon rains; vegetation becomes vivid green.

August

Rainy and humid. Frequent afternoon showers and comfortable daytime temperatures (27°C/81°F).

September

Still very rainy. 26°C (79°F) daytime. The air is very fresh and clean.

October

Transition to the dry season. Rainfall decreases and daytime temperatures are very pleasant (27°C/81°F).
