Climate Characteristics of Druskininkai

General Overview

Druskininkai enjoys a unique micro-climate considered one of the healthiest in Europe. The city is surrounded by vast pine forests (Dainava Forest) that act as a natural filter, producing air rich in oxygen and phytoncides. These forests also provide protection from strong winds, making the climate more stable than in other parts of Lithuania.

In summer, daytime temperatures average between 22°C and 26°C (72-79°F). Due to its southern location, it is one of Lithuania's warmest cities, though the forests prevent oppressive heat. In winter, average daytime temperatures are around -2°C (28°F), dropping to -9°C (16°F) at night.
